TEHRAN -- Iran has been drawn with Vietnam, Australia and Sri Lanka in Group A of 2009 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship, slated for September 5 to 13 in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Sixteen teams are drawn in four pools for a single round-robin, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
The pools are as follows:
Group A: Vietnam, Australia, Iran, and Sri Lanka.
Group B: Japan, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, and Maldives.
Group C: China (defending champions), Kazakhstan, Hong Kong and Afghanistan.
Group D: Thailand, South Korea, India and Indonesia.
The organizers will present first, second and third prizes for the three top teams and eight prizes for outstanding individuals. The four best teams will participate in the world women’s volleyball championship in Japan this October.
